The Chamber of deputies of Chile and the Inter-Parliamentary Union are jointly organizing a regional debate on "gender-sensitive parliaments". This meeting will be held the 11 and 12 July 2012 in Valparaíso (Chile)
This meeting is part of the follow-up activities since the publication of the report of the IPU entitled " parliaments sensitive gender - world good practices study" (2011). Research on the parliaments gender-sensitive, the ISU conducted, in collaboration with International IDEA, a Regional Latin America study, as to which national monographs participated the Argentina, the Bolivia, the Costa Rica, the Mexico and the Peru.
The regional debate aims to bring together parliamentarians, men and women, of the countries that took part in these studies to give them the opportunity to exchange views and compare their respective experiences and the lessons they in fired on the manner in which their parliaments adapt their structures, their operation, their working mechanisms and their action to respond to the expectations and interests of men and women.
