The Tipping Point: Elevating Women for Global Security

>>Watch the live webcast here!<<

In 2000, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security, transforming the global security paradigm so that it takes into account the extraordinary ability of women to enhance stability in their corners of the world. Since then, 37 countries, including the US, have developed national action plans to identify and implement critical changes in their practices, policies, and budgets – and many more are in the process of doing so.

For the 14th annual forum in this “Inclusive Security” series, join six women leaders as they speak about their experiences influencing national policies to prevent and end violent conflict. Ambassador Swanee Hunt, Eleanor Roosevelt Lecturer in Public Policy, will moderate the discussion with participants from Afghanistan, Burma, Colombia, Liberia, Libya, and Syria.

The forum will provide an opportunity for attendees to hear firsthand how women are waging peace within their communities and across conflict lines all over the globe. The discussion will be opened to the audience.

The event is open to the public.
