Workshop Tasks Media On Support for Women in Politics, Nigeria

Participants at a two-day workshop organised by the International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos, for journalists in Abuja, have been charged to support women in politics and also set the agenda for issue-based campaign for aspirants aspiring for various political positions as the campaigns for the 2015 general elections gain momentum.

The workshop, with the theme, "Conflict Sensitive, Public Interest and Gender-supportive Reporting of 2015 Elections," had participants drawn from Kwara, Kogi, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue and Niger states, and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who urged the media to develop sustainable mechanism for incorporating women concerns into reporting the 2015 elections, by creating opportunities to engage women in political activities, especially in contesting elections.
