Parliamentary Elections in Rwanda
Thirty percent of all indirectly elected Senators must be female.
Party-lists can contain no more than 80 candidates. Twenty-seven members are indirectly elected. Twenty-four seats are reserved for women, two are elected by the National Youth Council, and one is elected by the Federation of the Associations of the Disabled.
A total of 98 women candidates will compete for a seat in the Parliament. In the last parliamentary elections that were held in 2008, 45 women and 35 men were elected, giving Rwanda's Parliament the highest rate of women parliamentarians in the world (56.25%).

The National Electoral Commission (NEC) yesterday released the final list of candidates who will run in the September 16 parliamentary elections, exactly a week ahead of the campaign trail.
The majority of outgoing MPs are on the final list in the various categories, with the RPF-led coalition due to field the highest number of aspirants - 80 in total.
