Senate veterans decry cabinet's lack of women, Australia

Liberal senator Sue Boyce has criticised as ''shocking and embarrassing'' the appointment of only one woman to the new federal cabinet. Only foreign affairs spokeswoman Julie Bishop made it into the 19-member cabinet announced by prime minister-elect Tony Abbott on Monday.

Fiona Nash, Sussan Ley, Marise Payne and Michaelia Cash were appointed to the 11-member outer ministry and Concetta Fierravanti-Wells was the sole woman among 12 parliamentary secretary appointments.
