Former MP and First Constituency candidate, Yousef Al-Zalzalah says he will put on top of his priority demands of Kuwaiti women as part of his parliamentary work program when he wins a seat in the Parliament.

In a press statement, Al-Zalzalah said he will nominate himself for a post in the Parliamentary Women and Family Affairs Committee and make the committee’s priority to focus on the women’s social and civil rights law that was rejected by the former government.

“We will work in cooperation with the government to remove observations that led to its rejection,” Al-Zalzalah added. He stressed he will also nominate himself for the Parliamentary Financial Committee.

He added, “I say this from my conviction that if we want to achieve real and effective development women should be given a role and ensure that primary family demands are met.”

He emphasized the Parliament needs to pass the women’s social and civil rights law to guarantee women’s right in general and the rights of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis in particular.
