The goal of the conference is to provide a NW regional conference that explores men's role in ending violence against women. Though they are few, opportunities like this allow professionals in the field and others in the community to examine how we might all address this pandemic.

mens role in ending voilence against women

It is a very important theme and I hope something workable will come out of this discussion. In the part of the world where I live, most men believe that women need to be beaten to knock some sense into their heads. A junior officer once told me that he had to beat his wife several times, because she was just unreasonable, and ever since she was beatten, she has become calmer and respects him more. This was five years ago and today they are seperated. He did not realise that by beating his wife, she developed a thick skin and withdrew into herself. I am insure in her mind the marriage was over and she took her time to leave. The only reason men phyiscally abuse a woman is because they know she is not as strong as they are physically. Mutual respect, for each individual will ensure a better relationship.
