This misrecognition of women, against the Security Council resolution 1325, is particularly serious in a situation in which women were deeply involved during the origins of the 2011 revolutions against Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Alianza por la Solidaridad is looking for a consultant to generate evidence on response to gender based violence in the context of the Syrian Crisis in Lebanon and Jordan. 

The purpose of the consultancy is to generate evidence as to the extent, types and response to gender based violence in the context of the Syrian Crisis in Lebanon and Jordan in order to improve prevention, protection and survivor support, particularly with regards to sexual violence.

They move carefully between constantly changing checkpoints, where they’re often harassed. Extremists have been known to target female activists—beating them for not dressing conservatively enough. Or they may be detained. It happens frequently, especially if their activities are known to the government authorities. Even if not directly targeted, they live and work under constant shelling and deprivation, lacking food and water, and are often unable to communicate with activists a few neighborhoods away.
