Afghanistan's National Action Plan on UNSCR 1325

In July 2015, the government of Afghanistan launched the Afghan National Action Plan for implementing the United Nations Security Council resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) has analyzed the Afghani NAP by focusing on how civil society and government actors are involved in the implementation process and identifying its objectives, activities, budget and timeframe. The WILPF has also commented on the indicators set out in the NAP as well as on the monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. A major critique the WILPF mentions is the lack of provisions linking to disarmament issues as it appears that the NAP does not make clear connections between the proliferation of weapons and women's insecurity.
