Peru’s Political Party System and the Promotion of Pro-poor Reform

This paper analyzes Peru’s political party system as it affects the ability of democratically elected officials to drive pro-poor change. It reveals that Peru’s political system affects the poverty reduction process through the present structure of political parties and the cost-benefit structure of individual actors in politically powerful situations.
