China: 'More women should be elected NPC deputies'

6 Mar, 2012 - To improve women's participation in politics, a member of the Chinese People's PoliticalConsultative Conference national committee urged that more women be elected as nationallegislators in 2013 during the next election of the National People's Congress (NPC).

Zhang Liming, an official at the All China Women's Federation, said on Tuesday that theproportion of female NPC deputies has lingered at about 21 percent during the past three decades.
