India: Women asked to take active part in politics

Former Delhi mayor and BJP leader in charge of Goa, Ms Aarti Mehra has called upon women to come forward and take active part in politics as they could bring in about a sizeable transformation in the society.Ms Mehra, who is in Goa, was addressing a mahila melawa at Mapusa on Sunday evening.Speaking on the occasion, she said that many politicians in the past tried to make use of women for their political benefits but this was now ending as women have now awakened and they are in a position to identify what is good and bad.She said that to make women more vibrant and make their presence be known in legislative assemblies and Parliament it was important that women be given reservation so that they can collectively bring about a change.
