Even today, universal suffrage is not a given right in all countries, and women often face obstacles that undermine their participation in political and electoral processes. There are various ways to support women in overcoming these obstacles. Such methods include revising the electoral system used, applying affirmative action mechanisms such as quotas, improving voter education for women and training political candidates. The 2024 election is expected to be an important milestone for increasing women's representation in parliament, according to Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Bintang Puspayoga.

"We all hope that the 2024 election will be an important milestone in the struggle to achieve fairer and more inclusive representation in parliament to create empowered women and protected children," the minister said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
