Maria Silvia Bastos Marques, first high-rank female in Temer's administration

After being harshly criticized for the complete absence of women in his government, Brazil’s Acting President, Michel Temer, have decided to put Maria Silvia Bastos Marques in charge of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). Holding a Ph.D. in Economics, she was also president of the biggest integrated steel company in Latin America, the Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN). 

Dr. Bastos accepted the proposal on Monday, according to the press. It is expected that the Minister of Finance, Mr. Henrique Meirelles, will officially announce his economic team later today. Click here to learn more.
