10th Regional Conference On Women In Latin America and The Caribbean

This 10th Regional Conference is focused on the analysis of political participation and gender parity in decision-making processes at all levels, and of women’s contributions to the economy and social protection, especially in relation to unpaid work.

As the leading intergovernmental forum in Latin America and the Caribbean for the examination of public policies from a gender perspective, the Regional Conference is convened every three years by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). Co-organizing this tenth session is the Consejo Nacional de las Mujeres (National Women’s Council, CONAMU) of Ecuador, host country of this conference.

The meeting is being held in accordance with the mandates of the Regional Plan of Action, which stipulates the identification of regional and subregional technical assistance requirements; recommendations to governments and ECLAC to implement agreements adopted by UN regional conferences; and provision of a forum for information exchange

The final plenary session will take place Thursday, 9 August with the presentation of the Quito Consensus of agreements and commitments adopted by governments in attendance, and its agenda for future action.
