Call for Paper: Gender and Sustainable Development

The International Journal of Innovation and Sustainable Development (IJISD)invites submissions for a special edition on Gender and Sustainable Development to be published in Summer 2009. Articles should be based on new quantitative research concerning the economic, social and environmental role of women and the implications for government policies and business practices. Original research is welcome on the following topics (not exhaustive):

• Women in the workforce and economic growth • Economic impacts of family-friendly policies • Gender balance and innovative performance • Female focus in poverty reduction • Performance of male and female-led firms • Innovation and women entrepreneurs • Valuation of female-dominated professions • Valuation of household work • Effectiveness of gender quotas in public and private sectors • Costs and benefits of engendered health policies • Contributions of women migrants • Gender aspects of education trends • Women in global supply chains • Engendered approaches to disaster risk reduction • Sustainable consumption patterns by gender • Gender governance approaches and climate change

Initially, an abstract of not more than 150 words in the form of an MS Word file attached to an e-mail should be submitted electronically by 1 September 2008 to the Guest Editor at Candice.Stevens@oecd.org or to the General Editor, Dr Delyse Springett at D.V.Springett@massey.ac.nz .

The Guest Editor of this issue, Candice Stevens, OECD Sustainable Development Advisor, will accept finished manuscripts by 1 November 2008.
