Kenya's New Constitution: A New Beginning for Reforming Governance and Development in Kenya

NDI is pleased to welcome Kenya's new ambassador, Elkanah Odembo, to Washington, D.C. Following the historic constitutional referendum on Aug. 4 Amb. Odembo will discuss the new constitution and its implications for democratic development in Kenya.

Amb. Elkanah Odembo comes to Washington, D.C., after serving as the ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to France since January 2009. Prior to representing Kenya abroad, Amb. Odembo held senior level positions at philanthropic and non-governmental organizations in East Africa. Advocating for human rights and social justice has always been at the core of his work. Amb. Odembo earned his bachelor's degree in biology from Bowdoin College and his Masters in Public Health from the University of Texas.
