Reporting Responsibly On Immigration Policies and Issues In Times of Crisis
This event is in collaboration with Latinas Represent; learn more about their work at LatinasRepresent.org.
Objective: To create a collaborative space where journalists, elected officials, nonprofit advocates, and activists can engage in meaningful dialogue about addressing immigration challenges. The goal is to foster a deeper understanding of how these groups can work within their respective fields and together to promote balanced, culturally inclusive reporting on critical immigration issues and policies. By bridging the gap between journalists and policymakers—who are often seen as adversaries—this effort emphasizes their shared responsibility in shaping inclusive narratives and policies that strengthen democracy.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The event is designed to educate journalists, policymakers, and advocates on inclusive immigration reporting and policymaking, which aligns with ethical, culturally competent journalism standards and charitable and educational purpose of 501(c)(3) organizations. It does not advocate for or against specific legislation, political candidates, or parties, which would be prohibited. The event does not endorse any political party, candidate, or specific policy agenda. Instead, it provides a platform for discussing general issues related to immigration narratives and policymaking. Questions and discussions are framed to focus on best practices and general principles, ensuring neutrality.
