The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) is pleased to invite you to save the date for an upcoming webinar under the Women and Youth Democratic Engagement (WYDE) Women’s Leadership Initiative funded by the European Union (EU) implemented in partnership with UN Women, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), under the overall coordination and leadership of UN Women.

The webinar will present and discuss the findings of a thematic fact sheet developed to highlight how gender social norms influence women's political participation and representation. The fact sheet draws on insights and evidence generated through WYDE activities, including regional and intergenerational dialogues, Young Women's Empowerment Academies, engagements with media practitioners, and contributions from the iKNOW Politics platform and partner organisations.

Women in politics are often expected to do it all: lead, care, endure, and succeed in systems that were not designed with them in mind. How do gender social norms shape their wellbeing, confidence, and ability to participate fully in political life? This webinar will unpack the hidden costs of these expectations and explore pathways towards wellbeing, resilience, and institutional change.
