YWOA PROFILE Building A Better Africa For Young Women

Young Women of Africa (YWOA) is a dynamic, uniting and empowering movement that was established virtually in 2021 by a passionate group of young women who were youth and former youth leaders. Over the past five years, YWOA has rapidly grown into a continental network, uniting young women and we are currently in 39 countries between the ages of 16 and 40. The movement serves as a powerful platform for young women to pursue and amplify the transformation agenda for a better Africa. At YWOA, our mission is to empower, inspire, and support young African women in every sphere of life. We believe in the power of unity, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration to drive systemic change across the continent. By providing resources, mentorship, and advocacy, we are shaping a future where young women in Africa have the tools to lead, innovate, and succeed.

Since its inception, YWOA has made tremendous strides in reaching and supporting diverse groups of young women across Africa.

The Young Women of Africa (YWOA) is organizing a workshop to address and offer technical support on the African Renaissance: Exploring Women's Agency in the African Development Agenda. The Workshop will take place on the 14th June 2025.

The workshop aims to empower young women to serve as active agents of change within the African developmental agenda by examining their role in advancing the African Renaissance from a women centric and feminist perspective. The African Renaissance embodies a vision for a revitalized, empowered, decolonised and prosperous Africa. Nevertheless, the role of women in advancing this agenda remains largely unexamined. This workshop seeks to fill this void by offering a platform for 50 young women leaders and decision makers to explore their agency, enhance their capacities, and formulate strategies for meaningful engagement, highlight the pivotal role of young women's agency in the African development agenda and advocate for transformative policy changes that empower women and girls.
