Female MPs in Tanzania have called for an apology to an MP who was ordered to leave parliament because of her trousers.

A male MP said the way some women dressed invited ridicule to parliament.

"Mr Speaker, an example there is my sister seated on my right with a yellow shirt. Look at the trousers she has worn, Mr Speaker!" Hussein Amar said in parliament on Tuesday.

This is a drop from the previous assembly election in 2016, when the State elected 21 women (about nine per cent) into power.

The recent resignation of a former cabinet minster puts the Nova Scotia Liberals in a minority situation, with just 24 seats in the 51-seat legislature.

Margaret Miller submitted her resignation effective June 3 on Friday.

“I think ultimately the political implications are more symbolic than they are mathematical,” said Dalhousie political scientist Lori Turnbull.

The first woman of colour elected to the Welsh Parliament said she wants to inspire and be "a voice" for those who have faced barriers entering politics.

Conservative MS Natasha Asghar said the Senedd is "very outdated" and should reflect "more diverse communities that truly represent Wales".
