Tarcila Rivera Zea was 44 years old when she took part in the World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995. Today, this indigenous Peruvian activist is President of the Centre for Indigenous Cultures of Peru (CHIRAPAQ) and a member of the UN Women Civil Society Advisory Group.  Read her story here.

When Marcelina Bautista Bautista left her indigenous Mixtec community in Nochtixtlan, in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, at the age of 14 with only a primary school education and no knowledge of Spanish, she didn’t dream that one day she would end up contributing to the development of an international treaty for domestic workers’ rights.  Read her story here.

The White House says adding more diverse judges to the federal courts remains a priority for the president.

Ebony M. Scott on Monday became the twelfth Black woman confirmed to a seat on the federal court under President Biden, continuing his pledge to diversify the federal bench. "President Biden gets an A-rating for his judicial appointments," Judith Browne Dianis said.

The White House says adding more diverse judges to the federal courts remains a priority for the president.

A Russian woman, inspired by the successes of transgender politicians around the world, has been chosen to head a regional branch of the party Civic Initiative, almost a decade after beginning her career as a man.

Yulia Aleshina will now lead the party’s office in the Altai Territory, a picturesque mountainous region in Siberia, around 3,000 kilometers east of Moscow.
