Beijing +20 National Review, Marshall Islands

In 2015, the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women will carry out a review
and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action
adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995) and the outcomes of
the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly (2000). In resolution
E/RES/2013/18, the United Nations Economic and Social Council called upon all States
to undertake comprehensive national-level reviews of the progress made and challenges
encountered in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action
and the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly.
The goal of the National Review is to see how well the Republic of Marshall Islands is
implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995). The objectives of
this review are as follows:
(1) To focus on implementation of the Platform of Action;
(2) To provide concrete, evidence-based assessments on the impact of actions taken and
of results achieved;
(3) supplement this review with evaluations, research publications, reports, and
qualitative and quantitative data.
Furthermore this review discusses the progress and achievements and setbacks and
challenges. This review provides a discussion on future plans and initiatives to achieve
