Gender Budget Initiatives: Strategies, Concepts, and Experiences
This book, published by UNIFEM in 2002, is a compilation of papers and statements made at the high level International Conference "Strengthening Economic and Fianncial Governance Through Gender Responsive Budgeting." The collection provides state of the art research and analysis of the concepts, tools and experience of Gender Responsive Budget Initiatives.
Contributors include parliamentarians and civil society activists, independent researchers and practitioners from the international development community. A brief introduction connects the papers to the broader macroeconomic challenges as they relate to the increasing demand by citizens, and in particular women, for equaltiy, accountability, transparency and efficiency in the management of resources. A final section summarizes advocacy and mobilization efforts.
