Ministerial list: is it freedom for Nigerian women?

In the Beijing Declaration adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995, the participating countries and respective governments expressed their commitment to advance the goals of equality, development, and peace for all women everywhere in the interest of humanity. The women population is estimated to account for about half of the total population in Nigeria. Appointive positions cut across the three levels of governance: the federal, state, and local government.
For many years women in Nigeria have persistently lamented poor representation in government, whether in elective offices or political appointments, and advocated 35 per cent affirmative action on representation at all levels. Nigerian women have experienced high disparities in the domain of politics and decision-making.
