Legal Standards: Gender Equality and Women's Rights

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (hereinafter “the Inter-American Commission”, “the Commission”, or the “IACHR”) has ruled repeatedly on impunity for human rights violations as one of the main obstacles to observance of the rule of law in the region. This entails immediate and comprehensive obligations on the part of the states to fight this serious human rights problem.
