Women in the Middle East and North Africa face many difficulties and inequalities in their daily lives, and conflict in the region only exasperates the situation. Oxfam's Regional Gender Justice Programme introduced the first in a series of new webinars on gender justice by hosting on January 28th, 2016 a webinar around the theme of Women, Peace and Security: Reflecting on UNSCRs 1325 and 2242 - What are the ways forwards for the MENA region?. This online discussion brought together experts, women's rights organizations, international organizations as well as representatives from iKNOW Politics (presenting outcome of the e-discussion on the implementation of UNSCR 1325 in the Arab states) to stimulate a discussion on the latest global commitments on the Women, Peace and Security agenda and country experiences in advancing women's rights in conflict and post-conflict settings.
