In a move to enhance political capabilities of women, a United Nations body is launching an online course in political leadership in September. Though the proposed 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies is yet to see light of the day, the move seems to have been prompted by UPA-II’s inclusion of the passage of the bill in its 100-day agenda.The United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF), in association with an NGO, Centre for Social Research (CSR), has started training 1,000 women at panchayat, zila parishad and corporation levels.
