SOLOMON Islands women have been challenged to be role model figures in their aspirations and reflect their importance in their families, villages, islands, government, business and society as a whole.

Kiribati’s Vice President Teima Onorio made the challenge in her speech to mark the 33rd anniversary of Kiribati’s independence at Lawson Tama yesterday.

The theme in celebrating this years Independence in Kiribati was ‘Enhancing women empowerment for more equitable distribution of wealth.’
