Pakistan: Three extraordinary women

Source:

17 Mar 2012 - Three extraordinary women, two Pakistani, the third an Indian, have been making waves in the local and international media. Despite the fact that their areas of expertise belong to vastly different disciplines, audiences in the region and overseas have been alerted as to how far women have come in recent years.

All three women, Shrimati Meira Kumar, Dr. Fehmida Mirza and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy belong to largely patriarchal societies where to be a woman is to be relegated to the ranks of the voiceless and invisible or a second-class citizen at best.
