Promoting Women's Involvement in Politics (China)

When it comes to political participation, Chinese women have made great progress during the past decades.

In 2013, women accounted for 23.4 percent of the deputies who attended the 12th NPC (National People's Congress), and 17.6 percent of the members who attended the National Committee of the CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference). In 2012, women accounted for 23 percent of the delegates to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Each percentage set a record.

As we know that it is one of women's basic rights to participate, equally with men, in the political affairs. It is also a indicator to measure a country's political democracy, and even serves as a key for promoting social justice and sustainable development.
