SÃO TOMÉ AND PRINCIPE: A Retro Approach to Politics?

At the last Parliamentary elections in March 2006, the coalition won 43 of the total 55 seats, including the only two women in the Assembly. Another two are deputy MPs. The opposition Independent Democratic Action (ADI) and the New Way Movement (NR) hold the remaining seats but have no women MPs.
