12th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament

The 12th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Chamber of Deputies of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and the IPU, will be held on 25 and 26 April 2018.

The Summit will focus on inclusive societies and political decision-making, with particular emphasis on stemming violence against women in politics. Participants will discuss and identify collective and individual action needed to foster inclusive societies that are stable, safe and just for all and that enable all people to participate in social, economic, cultural and political life on the basis of equality, equity and dignity. The meeting will also offer an opportunity to shape strategies to put an end to the violence that women face in the political arena and that hinders their participation in political decision-making.

The Summit maintains the special spirit of the traditional Annual Meetings of women Speakers of Parliament and aims to provide women in the highest decision making positions of parliament a regular forum and opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences which are of interest to their national and international agendas.
