Certificate Course on Mainstreaming Gender into Community Based Disaster Risk Management

COURSE DESCRIPTION The Hyogo Framework for Action, the global roadmap for disaster risk reduction from 2005 – 2015 recognizes both community participation and gender-sensitive disaster risk management. Gender perspective is a cross-cutting principle of the Hyogo Framework for Action 2000 – 2015: on Building Resilience of Nations and Communities to Disaster, which states that:

“A gender perspective should be integrated into all disaster risk management policies, plans and decision making processes, including those related to risk assessment, early warning, information management and education and training.”
