Liberia: Female Politicians Declare Support for Ellen
Liberian women in politics predominantly defeated female candidates in the October 11, 2011 general and presidential elections have declared support for incumbent President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in the November 8, 2011 runoff.
President Sirleaf and Cllr. Winston Tubman of the main opposition Congress for Democratic Change are poised to participate in the runoff presidential election.
In the first round of polling, none of the 16 candidates in the race for the presidency obtained 50% of the total votes plus one additional vote as constitutionally required to be declared winner
