UN Women: Former Chilean President Bachelet to head new UN agency for women

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says he's appointing former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet to head the United Nations' new agency for promoting women's equality.

Ban announced Tuesday that Bachelet will head "UN Women," an agency formed in July to pull together four existing U.N. bodies dealing with the advancement and welfare of women. Bachelet ended her presidential term in March.
