US Ambassador Peter W. Bodde today called for increased participation of women in the upcoming elections and announced that his government would work with the government of Nepal and civil society to encourage women and underrepresented groups to participate in politics.
“Nepal is blessed with extraordinary people and resources. For Nepal to reach its potential, the country must have stability and a political system that truly represents the country’s diversity,” Bodde said in a panel discussion held on “Supporting Women’s Representation in All Stages of the Electoral Process in the Capital".
The envoy also encouraged those registered to vote to participate in the upcoming elections, saying that “Exercising the right to vote is one of the most important responsibilities of any individual citizen.”
