Austria swore in its new conservative-Green coalition Cabinet on Tuesday. For the first time, women ministers will outnumber men.

Nine of the 17 members of the new Cabinet are women, although both the roles of chancellor and vice-chancellor are held by men.

Croatia elects centre-left challenger Zoran Milanovic as president

Croatia's presidential election has been won by centre-left challenger Zoran Milanovic, who defeated the nationalist incumbent.

The social democratic ex-prime minister vowed to heal divisions, and said his victory had brought "hope and faith".

Mr Milanovic beat Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic - a conservative who won the presidency in 2015 - by 53% to 47%.

US: Child care remains an issue for women in politics

When Kimberly Dudik ran for her fourth term in the Montana House, state officials told her she could not use campaign money to pay for child care for her four young children.

She is now running for attorney general and is trying to visit a big chunk of the sprawling state, spending hours on the road. That means she needs even more help picking up her kids at school and day care when she’s away and her husband has a late night at the office.
