It's rare that members of parliament from across the political spectrum sit down and unanimously agree on an issue.

But that's what audiences can expect when Liberal MP Julie Bishop, Labor MP Linda Burney and Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young come together for a panel about increasing female representation in politics at the Sydney Opera House's All About Women event in March.

The Office of International IDEA to the European Union organized on 7 December 2018, a Roundtable discussion on ”Political empowerment of women through ICTs”, with the support of the Canadian Mission to the European Union. The aim of the event was to share experiences and views on the availability and use of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) tools to advance the political empowerment of women.

In November 2015, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau formed the first gender-balanced cabinet in Canadian history. In announcing his cabinet, he ensured that half of his closest advisers (15 out of a total of 30) were women.

Canada's gender-equal cabinet vaulted the country from 20th to fifth place in the world in terms of percentage of women in ministerial positions.
