Chikas Kumle
Chikas Kumle is a Nigerian politician, Beijing+25 Eaglet at UN Women, and the Executive Director of the Women Development Monitoring Initiative, a nonprofit organization that educates, advocates, and supports women in leadership roles. She is a fellow of the ElectHER Future Lawmakers Programme, a member of the Fix Politics work study group, and a pioneer student at the School of Policy, Politics, and Governance.
Chikas was the first woman in her constituency to run for the Plateau State House of Assembly and the youngest female candidate in the 2019 general elections in Nigeria. In 2023, she contested for the Federal House of Representatives seat to represent Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam federal constituencies. She also made history as the first female to win the Plateau Youth Council Chairmanship of Pankshin LGA. A passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, she is an SDG Ambassador, a Director at the Network of Ambassadors of the Sustainable Development Goals, and a respected global speaker.
Chikas has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Global Women of Excellence 2020 in Chicago, USA, and has received numerous local, national, and international awards, including the Distinguished Youth Personality of the Year, Outstanding Female Politician of the Year, and Youth Icon. She is deeply committed to advancing the status of women, youth, and the less privileged.
