Zainab Jamil

Zainab Jamil, a feminist activist, political organizer, and development professional from Islamabad, Pakistan, shares her powerful journey of political awakening, resistance, and advocacy for women’s rights.

Her path into activism began during her studies in gender studies, where she discovered the deep connection between gender and politics. This realization led her to join feminist movements and dedicate herself to challenging structural inequalities faced by women and gender minorities. In this compelling story, Zainab reflects on:

• Discovering feminism and political consciousness through academic and lived experiences
• The marginalization of women in public and political spaces
• Her involvement in feminist collectives and grassroots movements
• Facing backlash, stigma, and resistance for being a feminist activist
• The power of protest, solidarity, and reclaiming public space

Despite challenges from society and state structures, Zainab continues to advocate for inclusion, equality, and justice—working to ensure more women can participate freely and safely in political and civic life.
