Inter-Parliamentary Union

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is the global organization of national parliaments. Established in 1889, it promotes democratic governance, institutions and values, working with parliaments and parliamentarians to articulate and respond to the needs and aspirations of the people. The IPU works for peace, democracy, human rights, gender equality, youth empowerment and sustainable development through political dialogue, cooperation and parliamentary action. It works to enhance women’s access to parliament and strengthen their input to policymaking. It supports women members of parliament in their work, including by providing them with technical assistance and training.

The Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates also supports the International Knowledge of Women in Politics activities in Arabic through its contribution to the Inter-parliamentary Union.
