Kuwait: Female MPs Make First Visit to Assembly

Female MPs Maasouma Al-Mubarak and Aseel Al-Awadhi called for the formation of a homogenous and capable government that can submit its program of action and defend it. Mubarak also added that she comes to the national assembly with the aim to achieve more understanding and cooperation between the government and MPs. She denied reports that the four women are forming a bloc.

Kuwait: Dashti calls for greater women role in politics

A visiting female Kuwaiti parliamentarian, Rola Dashti, called yesterday for boosting role of women in politics. Dashti, in a statement after taking part in a session of the women parliamentarians commission, held on sidelines of the 124th convention of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), said the participants in the meeting debated several issues related to means of elevating women political role.

Kuwait: Only Woman in Kuwait Cabinet Praised

The appointment of Amani Bouresli, a Kuwait University finance professor and chairwoman at Capital Standards, as the new minister of commerce and industry, has been warmly welcomed by the business community, a local daily reported. Amani is the only woman in the 16-minister cabinet announced on Sunday by Prime Minister Shaikh Nasser Al Mohammad.
