Women's Perspectives on Re-invigorating Democracy, Human Rights and Economic Stability

The Washington Office on Latin America, Just Associates(JASS),
and The Nobel Women's Initiative cordially invite you to a briefing: "A New U.S. Administration, A New Agenda for Latin America: Women's Perspectives on Re-invigorating Democracy, Human Rights and Economic Stability". As Latin America faces many crises - from widespread poverty to violence and drug trafficking - women's groups are offering new voices and solutions to rebuild a badly tattered social fabric that threatens both community and regional stability. How will having Barack Obama in the White House impact these efforts? These renowned speakers will provide fresh insights about the current context and discuss their innovative strategies and ways in which US policy can support their efforts to promote democracy, human rights, and social justice in the Americas.

Speakers:

Malena de Montis, Autonomous Women's Movement of Nicaragua

Marusia López Cruz, Consorocio para el Dialogo Interparlementario

With the participation of Roxana Arroyo, Patricia Ardon, and Maria Suarez

Some of the presentations will be made in Spanish; translation will be provided.
