The recently held 14 th Legislative Assembly  Elections of Tamil Nadu – a southern state of India, brought back to power J.Jayalalithaa (63) who is  widely acclaimed as THE IRON LADY OF INDIA for her * Personal Charisma  * Unparalleled Courage * High Intellectual Capacity  and * Independent  Decisiveness.

Her grasp of Political Power, Task Competence and Leadership Style undoubledly permit her to stand at par with any male political leader across the globe.

Jayalalithaa is also popularly referred to as Amma (Mother) and Puratchi Thalaivi (Revolutionary Leader).

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) led by Jayalalithaa swamped a landslide victory with a clear public mandate thus making possible the formation of a government of her own, avoiding coalition.

Out of the strength of 234 Assembly seats, Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK and alliance parties grabbed 203 seats and set the opposition benches almost barren.

Whilst the arch rival party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) led by Kalaignar M..Karunanidhi and alliance managed to win just 31 seats, facing a shocking and humiliating defeat.

In the wake of this rare political circumstance, Jayalalithaa's own ally Captain Vijayakant the leader of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) is now sitting in opposition, as the principal Opposition Leader.

Coming back to power for a third substantive term as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu (earlier terms  *  1991-1996,  * 2002 -2006 )  a triumphant Jayalalithaa thanked the voters of Tamil Nadu saying , “ This is a victory not for us but in reality for the people of Tamil Nadu. It is the will of the people. This is a victory for democracy “.

Addressing her first Press Conference after the massive victory, Jayalalithaa explained to the media that her first and foremost priority would be to restore law and order in the state.

Also strongly emphasizing on the fiscal health of the state, she said    “It is not an easy task to rebuild a state which has been totally ruined during the past five years. The ruin that has been wrought, the havoc that been wrought in Tamil Nadu is beyond description”.

Handing over his resignation, the defeated and out-going Chief Minister , the veteran politician Kaliagnar.K.Karunanidhi  (88) of the DMK Party,  made a brief announcement that “The people of Tamil Nadu have given him rest “.

On Monday 16 May 2011, a few hours after .Jayalalithaa was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu by Governer S.S.Barnala, she sanctioned some significant welfare schemes bearing in mind the urgent needs of the people. . The most magnanimous ‘women-friendly’ measure was the ‘Granting of six months maternity leave  plus a pregnancy allownace  of Rs 12,000’ for women employees’.

The working women of Tamil Nadu rejoiced, for this meant * they need not entrust their babies to nannies, * can nurse their babies for six months and * there was no risk of them quitting their jobs for the sake of baby.-sitting.

Political commentators attribute this massive victory of the AIADMK party to the assiduity of Jayalalithaa. Like an amazing force, she travelled the entire length and breadth of Tamil Nadu educating the people of all categories, on the   gravity and magnitude of the 2G Spectrum scam. That is on  the irregularities in the Second Generation Spectrum (2G) allocations , which had  caused a loss of Rs 176,000 crores to the country and embarking on  * The price rise of Food and Essential Commodities which had hard hit the poor an dmiddle class citizens.

She drilled into the head of each and every voter that ‘Corruption should be voted out and thus rooted out of Tamil Nadu’

As a result the angry and exasperated voters of the State of Tamil Nadu, wanted ‘A CHANGE’, they tirelessly stood in long queues defying the scorching summer heat, to vote Amma Jayalalithaa back to power.

The voters saw to it that the plea for Anti-Corruption does loudly resonate at the polls.

Thus the IRON LADY OF INDIA reigns again as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and vows to make Tamil Nadu the Number One State in India, excelling in all spheres.
