Sudan: Women's Federation Delivers Memorandum to Parliament on Violence against Women

General Federation of Sudanese Women said it has immovable trust in the government and its institutions especially the highest legislative and monitoring power, the parliament.
The federation delivered a memorandum to the parliament regarding violence against women in line with the celebration of the national campaign to eliminate violence against women in the capital state and other states.
The memorandum was delivered to Head of the parliamentary social affairs, health, and family committee who stressed the importance of eradicating violence against women in all forms and on all judiciary, social, and executive levels through civil society organizations, families, and women themselves.
The memorandum called for passing the modifications proposed by the authorities and institutions of concern regarding criminal law, family law, marital law, criminal procedure law, and public health law.
The memorandum emphasized that violence against women can only be eliminated by having the proper laws in place to prevent any act of violence against women.
