Perceptions on Gender Equity: Measuring the Security & Political Implications for Nigeria
The role of perception in the dominant discourse cannot be underplayed considering the security and political implications. The need for equity is occasioned by manifestation of sex differentiation which sustains the tradition of unjustified deprivation in Nigeria to the extent that women are not easily considered for posts. It is obvious that the bulk of transformative strategies would come from women themselves depending on how committed and focused they are in actualizing this much desired result. With synthesized primary and secondary data such as focus group discussions (FGD), in-depth interviews and review of relevant literature, this paper therefore, suggests strategies for the way forward and encourages women to have confidence in themselves as agents of change, political transformation and development.
