Malawi’s political landscape continues to be marked by a stark gender imbalance in its leadership structures, with men still occupying the majority of top positions across the country’s major political parties.

From Iraq to Afghanistan to the US, basic freedoms for women are being eroded as governments start rolling back existing laws. 

Women politicians have bemoaned rising violence against women in politics which discourages their participation in key decision-making processes.

Stakeholders have raised concerns about the critical state of women’s political participation in Nigeria.
