Summary of the e-Discussion on Women’s Participation in Local Government

The e-Discussion on Women’s Political Representation and Participation at the local level was launched on 2 February 2018 in Arabic, English, French and Spanish and ended on 8 March 2018. Experts, practitioners, and researchers discussed about the challenges and opportunities for women’s representation in local government and its role in helping achieve gender equality and empower women at the local level.  

Twenty-four participants from Sub-Saharan Africa, the Arab region, Asia, the Americas and Europe engaged in the online debate and submitted contributions. The e-Discussion gathered twenty contributions in English, three in French and one in Spanish.

Along with our partners, we would like to extend our thanks to all our followers who took the time to answer the questions of this e-Discussion and share experiences, practices, and recommendations.
