Diversity in parliaments: Listening to the voices of minorities and indigenous people
Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 35 parliamentarians between March and November 2009. Interviews were designed to gather data on (a) the ways in which members of minority and indigenous groups become parliamentarians, (b) the experiences of members of minority and indigenous groups serving in parliaments, (c) the ways in which parliaments include these groups in their work, and (d) how minority/indigenous representatives are able to make an effective and meaningful contribution to parliamentary work.
